Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from a treatment?

Everyone is different, so no treatment is ever the same, however during your first appointment I will take a full history, including information about lifestyle, medical history and past injuries. We will then discuss in detail your reason for visit and what you want to from treatment setting achievable goals. I will then carry out a postural assessment and check range of movement before setting out an individual treatment plan including homecare advice.

How long does a treatment last?

The first session is between an hour and fifteen minutes and an hour and a half, depending on how long the consultation takes. Follow up appointments are an hour unless otherwise stated. I do however offer half hour appointments and hour and a half appointments depending on case.

What should I wear?

This all depends on how you will feel comfortable. When doing a postural assessment it is best if you can be in just underwear, however if you do not feel comfortable then a pair of sports shorts is your best option, however don’t be afraid to ask. During treatment you will always be covered over with a large towel, and I will only have the area that is being treated uncovered.

Is sports massage just for sporty people?

Most definitely not, just because you aren’t “sporty” does not mean you won’t benefit from sports massage. Sports or deep tissue massage works on alleviating excess tension in soft tissue, waking up muscles that aren’t firing sufficiently and working out imbalances within the body so that weakness and compensation can be addressed. Working in a desk based job can create a lot of imbalance within the body, not to mention the stress that gets held in your shoulders and neck!

Where are you based?

I am based at The Exchange Business Centre, Water Lane, Newark, NG24 1HA, behind the Malt Shovel pub. There is plenty of free secure parking at the rear of the building, which is accessed via Handley Court. Take the first right down Handley Court and this leads directly into the carpark. Visitor spaces are on the right hand side after the red door. The entrance for me is out of the carpark on Water Lane, at the side of the building with buzzer entry just inside the first door.

How do I pay?

Cash or cheque please for the first treatment; however after that I do accept bank transfers as well.
